What is Lyocell / Tencel?
TENCEL™ Lyocell is the third-generation technology of regenerated cellulosic fibers. These fibers are manufactured from eucalyptus wood pulp. Eucalyptus does not need irrigation and grows quickly without pesticides, fertilisers, herbicides, or genetic manipulation.
TENCEL fibers are treated in a closed loop production process in which process water and nontoxic organic solvents are recycled with a recovery rate of 99.5%. The remaining emissions are broken down in biological water treatment plants. Solvent is not acidic, does not remain in the fiber, and has been proven harmless in dermatological and toxicological tests.
