What is Modal?
Modal is the second-generation of regenerated cellulosic fibers and is known for its softness. Modal is a modified rayon fiber (Viscose fiber, the first-generation) that has high tenacity and high wet modulus.
While viscose rayon can be obtained from the wood pulp from a number of different trees, Modal is only manufactured from sustainably harvested beech trees. These trees propagate by themselves, with no artificial irrigation or planting.
Smoothness and comfort – Very soft, shiny, natural and silky smooth to the touch, making it especially useful for body contact clothing such as lingerie and undergarments.
Breathability – naturally breathable fabric, suitable for wearing close to the skin. Modal underwear does not trap perspiration and odors.
Water-absorption – Extremely water and sweat absorbent. It mostly feels waterless even when holding a substantial quantity of water. Modal is up to 50 percent more absorbent than cotton, so clothes never feel sweaty and sticky.
Durability – high breaking strength and fabric made from modal are resistant to shrinkage, fading, pilling and wear, and keep their shape and finish, even after frequent washing. Stone deposits from firm water never set down on the fabric structure. They have the potential to be lighter and finer and can be tumble-dried without damage.
Versatility – This fiber may be fading at one stage but flat to stretching and pilling.
Color retention – very colorfast maintaining its vibrant colour/s longer than cotton.
Environment-friendly – are fully biodegradable.
Strength – increased wet strength.
